Location is fine, anywhere in Mandalay you need some transport so it doesn't matter so much. 5 mins walk from moustache bros. Room smelled and the floor in the room had not been cleaned. Probably the sheets had. Twice in the first hour someone tried to open my room to accommodate another guest in my private room. Female staff were helpful but male staff were grumpy and curt. My laundry was booked to arrive at 7am but at 9.15 came back still damp... A lot of guests had come straight from Ostello Bello in Bagan which was so excellent that it was hard to come down to this hostel. It was not awful but just disorganised and ambivalent to guests.
Nice and neat hub, primarily for young backpackers in Manadaly. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, and the personal were nice and helping, especially Kyaw Kyaw (one of the owning managers) who was present most of the time in the reception and helped very much by answering practical questions and booking bus tickets. However, the wifi solution was not optimal as it was slow and one had to every 60 minutes type in a new long, cumbersome code to reconnect. The breakfast was so so, actually not quite well organised. But all in all practically nice place in the current Mandalay for a short stay, and connecting travels.
It's a backpackers hostel where you get a good room in. But we think the price is to high for this kind of hotel, breakfast is just toast and egg, and you have to make it yourself after waiting for 15 minutes. Location is fine, staff do what they could but not everyone is that friendly when you ask for information.
