Don and Noemie were great hosts. The place was very clean, sleeping was comfortable and cozy with the cool air conditioning, the amenities were everything we needed (plus a washer), and of course the ocean view was amazing. Speaking of the ocean, they have stairs that give you access to this small many cove that serves as somewhat of an ocean pool. It's waste deep and perfect with some water shoes to cool off with a cold drink. You can watch the sunset from there, from the balcony, or the bedroom window. All three give different and equally stunning, beautiful views of the city and ocean cast with all the transitioning colors. Upon arrival, we thought we'd be hipsters and ride the bus around the island. Bad call and Don knew it. He got us in touch with a friend of his who rented cars for very cheap, insurance included. I had come before and rented from Avis. Dons guy is cheaper, friendlier, and much more accommodating. Since we didn't have a vehicle, don had offered to run us to the store to buy booze, food, and what we needed. Our eagerness to explore outweighed our need for any immediate goods so we respectfully declined. But that's the type of guy Don is, very giving and gracious. The location of this place is fantastic. Eat in the neighborhood. You can hear the beats from an alley walk away at Miles Jazz, Kome is around the corner which was our favorite place to eat, and many more restaurants are all over this location and all can be walked to in just minutes. Along each walk, we took in so much of the gorgeous, intentional graffiti. The neighborhood is a fusion of what we imagined the fusion of 1920s Cuba and old Europe would look like. Punda is a 5 minute walk to the west. Otrabanda is just over the floating bridge from there. Access to the big bridge is easy and the beaches in Westpunt are a short drive from there. To the east, mambo is an easy 5-10 minute drive. There is not a better apt for the price, location, or helpful host on the island. Thanks Don and Noemie!
