If you want to experience ECR, the coastal highway to French town of Pondicherry extending all the way till Kanyakumari, then this is the place to be in. This area of Chennai is just on the outskirts where the highway to the tip of South-India starts. Its nestled just inside a quiet lane off the highway yet gives the access to experience a whole lot, be it the beach that is half a mile towards the east or the temple of Marutheeswarar, a mile ahead in the north or the historic stone-cut temples of Mammallapuram which is an hour’s drive down the south
Extra person: ₹550 / night after the second guest
We live in a posh locality and a quiet corner just off the highway. You can find quite some peace looking over the rich garden that our house owner proudly grows in the adjacent plot. The house is furnished with choicest of Iroko woodwork right from African subcontinent. We have rented the first floor which has four rooms one of which we occupy. We have for you a choice of 3 rooms, each of them furnished with curtains, Queen sized double beds, air conditioners and each having a fair amount of cupboards and shelves to tuck away your travel bags.
You will also find in the hall area, a cupboard full of books, both fiction and non-fiction. You are welcome to take them into your room and read but be sure to place them back from where you took
If you are a smoker, you could select one of the rooms with balconies. So long as you don’t throw the butts off into the garden area or drop them to be lying around.
You will be staying inside the bedroom of your choice assured of complete privacy, the comfy bed and the bean bag for relaxation. All bedrooms have ‘Reed diffusers’ to further soothe your senses. These are handpicked scents made of natural flavours. You will also be provided with fresh linen, towels, big duvets and water jugs. You will also have hangers on the walls for your clothes (Given based on need and for long stays).
If you have chosen the twin room you also have the advantage of the study table and the balcony overlooking the garden.
You are always welcome to throng the living space or the dining area or the kitchen to make yourself quick toasts or coffee/tea. The Fish-tank in the living space has proven to be an attraction to all the little guests who have stayed with us.
You will have free wi-fi, access to maps and you could always ask us for guidance to go around the city or the nearby towns.
You can use our kitchen while staying with us. Usage of kitchen is however subject to long stays only. There is induction stove for making yourself hot tea and coffee, or other quick bites. A washing machine, OTG and a sandwich maker are all present in the one of the two kitchens. If you wash your clothes you will have to climb downstairs over to the garden to hang them for drying.
We don’t supply breakfast, but ID restaurant 2 km down the main road will give you a taste of typical south Indian vegetarian cuisine. You can also find a good number of restaurants through ‘Zomato’ or ‘Swiggy’ to get food of your choice delivered at our doorstep. We advise you not to have your food inside the bedrooms. Please do use the dining table in the hall area. It can seat up to 6 people. We would like to have you with us at the table, sharing your travel experiences.
You will be having private bathrooms inside the bedrooms. But if you happen to have chosen the single room with balcony, you will have the bathroom just outside your bedroom door. Its in the corridor, thought mostly exclusive for the room, it could be sometimes shared as well.
We always try to welcome guests personally but if in the rarest of cases we are not around we make other arrangements for you as well as key access. We extend a warm welcome, take a copy of any of your ID and answer all your questions. Then we leave you be.

But unfortunately most of them are non air-conditioned. We tend to travel everywhere on our motorcycles as it helps to skim through traffic and it is always a delight to travel so.
Arriving from the airport, take the pre-paid taxi upto Kottivakkam, ECR. It should cost you around Rs.450-500. If you have Uber app on your mobile phone you could hire a (EMAIL HIDDEN)ing in from the Chennai Central railway station, you will find the buses 1A or A1 that reach out to Thiruvanmiyur bus stand. You could hire an autorickshaw from there at a cost of Rs. 40.
If you are coming in a bus from the town of Pondicherry, via the ECR route, try to get down at Kottivakkam Market area. You can cross and walk over less than half a kilometre to reach our home. Some buses dont make stops in between. You will then have to get down at Thiruvanmiyur and get an autorickshaw back over to Kottivakkam.
If you are arriving on a late night flight, please inform early. We shall try to accommodate the timings. Use a pre-paid taxi at the airport as you will not find many Uber or other cabs at night.
