The furniture is old but comfy. The house is very simple and unrenovated, 70's style so the kitchen and bathroom are dated! The kitchen does have a modern 6 burner gas stove and oven and large stainless steel fridge.
If you want immaculate, modern or hotel styling this is not the place for you. If you want a big comfy unpretentious family friendly homey house in an excellent and scenic location for enjoying Byron area then here it is. It's not a holiday home, it's a family home, clean, but it has some peeling paint and scuff marks on walls etc. It is offered clean and tidy ready for guests and a special welcome. We had a ball sharing our last house on Airbnb (see reviews under my name) and are loving the positive response from guests here too. Any questions, please be in touch!
You have full country kitchen with juicer, dishwasher, gas stove and oven, laundry, bathroom, garden, kids play area, verandah, living room with fireplace and 2 bed rooms. If you are travelling with children we can leave out extra kids gear. You can pick from the vege gardens.
We will lock our third bedroom unit with our clothes etc. and Ross may stay there at times. Its not visible from any of the houses areas so is discrete.
Our lovely caretaker will most likely be in a caravan downhill in a separate garden. The caravan is not visible from the house. They will look after the chickens and gardens. They pop up occasionally to the locked far end 'unit' of the house to use the shower and the driveway. Ross may also use this separate unit two nights a week and will also access from back driveway which is not visible from your living space or vice versa. Both are sensitive to your privacy and will not interfere in your space unless asked for advice or assistance which they will be happy to help with! You can also message me directly via SMS with any questions.
Please note that we do not have a TV, although we may be able to set up an old one by request. We do have a stereo with original record player and an eclectic collection, and if you like we can leave out some dvd's that you could play on your laptop.
We have two driveways, both are short but relatively steep. One is in bad condition at moment due for reselling so please only use the cement driveway.
Like all rural properties in Byron Shire we are on tank water, we filter for drinking and ask for care in not wasting water.
Like all rural areas in Australia, if you go bushwalking please keep in mind at all times that there may be snakes. Boots are essential if you go bushwalking and we recommend long trousers. If you see a snake, stop, be quiet and calm and slowly walk backwards. Never try to get closer, touch, kill or move a snake, this is how 90% bites occur.
On a brighter note as our home is situated in aKoala corridor, you may see or hear all kinds of things at night including Koala's, Tawny Frogmouth's, Owls, frogs, possums and the breeze in the trees. Contrary to popular belief, nature is not quiet! This is a beautiful thing, please come with curiosity and enjoy.
