Beautiful setting, apartment with 3 sea view patios. Rock accessed swimming (locally bought rubber sea shoes needed) right outside the communal terrace / garden. Sandy beaches are a drive away. Nearby mini-market shop (sells Raspberry Magnums!) / chicken rotisserie, otherwise drive to a few basic shops in Torre Suda though fruit hit and miss quality; amazing thyme and basil; lovely shop keepers and Tourist Information Office. The setting outweighed our criticisms which follow and a good time was enjoyed, but improvements would make the experience even better. The arrival handover was annoying - we rang a week before (having heard nothing) and were asked to meet at a bar in Torre Suda (why not at the property?) and ring from Lecce. We did ring and were then asked to ring again from the bar at 16.30. We did and were asked to wait 20 minutes. 50 minutes later we rang again and were told the agent would be with us in five minutes - he arrived in ten and lead us to the address. There was no handover arrangement to vacate so we locked the apartment and put the keys through the shutters. The apartment is a comfortable size for 2 persons, query whether suitable for more adults - 4 wooden chairs and uncomfortable 2 seater sofa inside and 6 plastic chairs outside. Poorly equipped and sparsely furnished: no waste paper bins, washing up brush / liquid, washbasin plug, ice cube maker, wine glasses, provisions or cleaning materials of any sort, aircon or fan; bathroom mirror bulb missing, pan handles loose, fridge door inconsistent, oven disabled, beds basic, sofa uncomfortable, linen poor; door handles needed lubricating, back patio needs a gate and the rails repainting, two broom handles broken, shower room floor flooded after shower used. There is no brochure giving information about the apartment and local facilities or attractions, nor a guest book. Luckily I found the fuse box when the trip went. Rang non English speaking agent then owner to find out where washing machine is located (in a store room in basement area) as he did not show us on arrival. The water supply ran out but delivery lorry arrived within minutes and delivered again 3 days later - it would be useful to have known these arrangements. Various neighbours partied or spoke loudly til 11 pm or midnight, not too bad. We did not find many suitable areas to walk dog off lead. There is too much rubbish on the rocks and the bins outside the development gates get overfull. Plenty of local and visiting Italian extended families spend days and evenings enjoying the sea air and bathing - delightful to see. Absence of foreign tourists notable and refreshing. Gallipoli was a worthwhile visit; other local villages / towns in the hinterland were unattractive.
