The villa was planned and designed to take advantage of its spectacular position. It is built on 3 levels. The top level is our private apartment. The two lower floors make up the apartment we rent. The views over the Tyrrhenean Sea and the Mediterranean islands of Elba and Capraia are stunning. There is the yachting marina of Macinaggio directly below with its yachts and those moored in the bays around about and of the wild Cap Corse headlands which is a French National Reserve.
There are 2 very large double bedrooms: in both there is a double bed plus 1 single bed. There are also 2 single bedrooms; in both there are 2 single beds. The villa can, therefore, sleep 10 in real beds. The kitchen is big and airy, with long windows that open out on two sides to the beautiful views, and on the third side there are patio doors which lead onto a very sheltered smaller patio. The kitchen has a central island with cupboards, dishwasher, cooker and oven, double sink and work
surface. The patio is the family breakfast room and an extension of the kitchen; a sunny, private, sheltered space. One can choose where to have barbecues; when we entertain we have them upstairs on the large patio but when the family is alone we have them on the smaller patio off the kitchen. There are two sitting rooms; one leading onto the patio which has sofas and a TV; the other has a dining room table, and sofas but also the ping pong table, where the children can play. There is a bathroom on each floor(2), the washing machine is under the stairs.
There is a small fenced garden for young children.
Tomino is a small village on a hill overlooking Macinaggio. It is cool and quiet, and ideal for children who can play safely in the squares and green areas as there is very little traffic and no other dangers. Macinaggio, and the beaches, is a 5 minute drive down the hill. Macinaggio is very lively, with its waterside bars, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. This is the place to go when one feels like a bit of fun. It has quite a few good restaurants which all have open air eating. There is a sailing and windsurfing school in Macinaggio, and also a deep sea diving school. One can hire sailing boats, speed boats or kayaks here too and explore the bays around the Cap. There is also a magnificent walking trail around the coast, which is not strenuous.
Tomino is a 40 minute drive from Bastia. Bastia is the capital of Haute Corse, a beautiful, elegant and interesting city with its medieval citadel and picturesque old port. Bastia also has a modern port where the ferries arrive, and an airport. The drive from Bastia to Macinaggio is easy and spectacular; a winding road that snakes its way along the magnificent coast. It is very hard to believe that one is in our lovely but crowded Europe when one is on Cap Corse.

We like reading (a lot). Mostly about history, art, philosophy, economics, travel and good novels. We also like the cinema, especially films of the '30s, '40s and '50s. But any good film really and we love comedies. We also like photography, and taking photos. Franco is a pretty good photographer. We adore food, whether at home or in restaurants. We like cooking and eating out. We also like trying foreign dishes. We are very keen on travelling, to places off the beaten track but also cities of historic and cultural interest. Louella enjoys gardening and plants. And is a birdwatcher. We enjoy walking and being in natural, untouched, surroundings. We love the sea but it must be as deserted as possible and uncrowded.
We are a large family with 4 children, three boys and one girl. Unfortunately the kids are pretty grown up now, except for our youngest son who still travels around with us.
We have spent all our summers, Christmases, New Years and Easters in Tomino with the children, family friends and relatives, for many years now and can't imagine a more beautiful place in Europe.
We also love animals and have a lot of pets - cats, dogs and birds. The dogs and birds travel out with us on the ferry each time we go to Corsica. As we use the same ferry company time after time, they are quite used to seeing our ménage arrive.
