华盛顿州柯克兰

When deciding whether to become an Airbnb host, it is important for you to understand the laws in your city or county. As a platform and marketplace we do not provide legal advice, but we want to give you some useful links that may better help you understand relevant laws and regulations in Kirkland. This list is not exhaustive, but it should give you a good start in understanding your local laws. If you have questions, contact the Kirkland Department of Licensing, or review the Short-Term Requirements and FAQ webpage.

The information on this page is specific to the city of Kirkland. Different rules may apply to other cities and towns. If you are unsure which jurisdiction you fall under please contact your local city administrator or planning department for more information.

Business License

All hosts are required to obtain a City of Kirkland business license and pay the appropriate fees. For more information on licensing and feeds, please refer to the city website.

Short-Term Rental Ordinance

The City Council adopted an ordinance regulating short-term rentals in Kirkland in October 2017. The ordinance defines short-term rentals as a rental lasting for less than thirty days, as opposed to long-term rentals, which are defined as those lasting 30 days or more. The ordinance primarily applies to single family residences. Multifamily residences are generally governed by the rules of the individual complex.

Short-Term Rental Requirements

The City of Kirkland requires business licenses for all short-term and long-term rentals. For more information, please visit the city website.

Other Rules

It is also important to understand and follow other contracts or rules that could apply to your home, such as leases, timeshare ownership rules, condo board or co-op rules, HOA rules, or rules established by tenant organizations. Please read your lease agreement and check with your landlord if applicable.

We are committed to working with local officials to help them understand how Airbnb benefits our community. Where needed, we will continue to advocate for changes that will allow regular people to rent out their own homes.
