**Throughout December will be running in the evening when the Christmas market closes, an out and back 5 miles, starting and finishing at the cathedral (next to the Christmas market). This will involve taking on virtually the same route as listed below, but all lit up in the darkness, (some parts will be dark out in the countryside, but head touches will be provided)** A 10k Run at a leisurely pace, starting at Winchester Cathedral and finishing at the King Alfreds Statue both in the centre of Winchester. This experience however will be going out of the city on a unique route I know, and via the beautiful surrounding countryside and rivers, which we will pass through and give you a different perspective to staying and running in the city centre. This will be done by using bridges, paths and trails on the route, before ending back in the city centre and collecting your memento of the run.
Hi, I’m Paul and live in Winchester. I’ve been a keen runner for over 25 years now. I started out on the track, but have now since moved up distances from 5k, to half marathon’s, and up to full marathon’s. I do training on my own or with my running club (Hatch Warren Runners), in which i’m also a group run leader, taking out groups on various training runs. Finding new unique routes on many of my runs is part of the fun and enjoyment I get from running and this one is my favourite route I have discovered the Winchester Out & Back.
** For Christmas run, mostly same course, but won’t be running along the Itchen and start and finish are the same at cathedral.** Start and finish at two of Winchester’s most famous landmarks the Cathedral and King Alfred’s Statue. The run will then include places out of the city centre, which are, running through St Cross area, crossing the Hockley Viaduct, travelling along the River Itchen, and passing St Catherine’s hill.
