Our meetup time will be 15 minutes before sunrise to allow for sometime to get ready and see all the colors in the clouds. Once you arrive to our meeting spot, I will have you fill out waivers and get you geared up with life jackets and paddles. The paddle boards will already be in the water waiting for you. We will first do a lesson on land going over paddling technique and how to stand on the paddle board. Then I will go over the weather conditions for the day before heading to the water to get on the boards. Once on the paddle boards we will practice paddling before heading out to explore. Our route will depend on the weather conditions and tide. My tours depart at both low and high tide with both tides offering different marine life sightings. We will either paddle board out to Munyon Island and through the mangrove trails or around Munyon Island before stopping to take a water and swim break before heading back to our meeting spot. On both routes we will learn about the history of Munyon Island and look out for marine life. We frequently encounter dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, stingrays, horseshoe crabs and a variety of marine birds.
Hello! I was born and raised in West Palm Beach, so I grew up discovering all the beauty this area has to offer. For the past 11 years I have been paddle boarding areas all over Florida. I am a Florida Master Naturalist through the Master Naturalist Program of the University of Florida. My favorite place to paddle board is the waters surrounding MacArthur State Park. I started guiding tours with South florida Paddle, around MacArthur State Park over 8 years ago (the first in this area). I’ve learned where the best spots to see marine life are and how the winds affect the area to give my guests the best experience. My studies include marine and coastal science at Florida Atlantic University. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University in Psychology Advanced Certificate in G.I.S.
I will provide drinking water while on the tour, but you could always bring more (in a reusable container preferably
South Florida Paddle will be providing all our paddling gear, and safety equipment. I will be taking complimentary photos of…
We will visit Munyon Island a 47 acre island located in the Lake Worth Lagoon. Once on the island we will either visit the unique mangrove trails or a beautiful white sand beach, or both depending on the conditions.
During hot summer days you may want to bring extra water. I have polarized sunglasses on hand to rent if needed. Please limit valuables. You’re welcome to lock up bags inside the paddle van while we are adventuring. You may want to bring a change of clothes and towels for when we return.
