You will immerse into Creta's extraordinary food culture through first-hand insight and hands-on gastronomic experience with Katerina, where you can discover local recipes aromas and tastes and a laid-back Cretan gastronomic dinner. Guided visit in the culinary market may also be arranged upon request. The experience starts in our blooming garden, where you learn about the Cretan culture, history, culinary customs, fresh ingredients, products, even about typical words that locals use to describe their food while sipping on a glass of indigenous Cretan wine. You will have the chance to make simple but mouth-watering cold starters and ask your adviser questions and cooking tips so to recreate all, when back home. Then, it’s behind the scene, in our kitchen with your sleeves rolled up, to get involved with preparing and cooking your main creation. Along with our chefs, you may select classical Cretan dishes - including ones our "yiayia" (granny) passed down to us - as well as ones with a modern twist. Once everything is cooked and flavours are soaked up, it’s time to sit to the table tucking into your handmade masterpieces under the candlelight, sharing feelings, laughter & food as Cretans do. Meze, appetizers, main course, dessert is there but this wouldn’t be a typical Cretan culinary feast without slowly savouring every drop of your raki!

This strong belief drives me to found and own one of the best restaurants and hotels in Greece, the renown Avli; to be a passionated chef with 27 years of attentive culinary research & experience into Creta's extraordinary food culture, the secretary-general of the Greek Academy of Taste, member of the organisation committee of the annual Cretan Diet Festival and of the RECEVIN. Let me inspire you with a unique gastronomic experience, a traditional Cretan cookery hand-on work-shop. We will create my favourite recipes whilst telling you about the history, culture, customs & culinary delights in this blessed island
