The plan for our day of adventure in the Eagle´s Nest is the following: We will travel from Salzburg to the heart of the Bavarian Alps by bus. Once in the town of Obersalzberg just beneath the mountain, we will start exploring the area! The forest is filled with secret locations that tell the story of WWII (Hitler´s Berghof, secret access to the bunkers, etc) that most people will never visit when in the area. After the exploration of the forest, we will start our hike up to the actual Eagle´s Nest. Very important to know is that I will navigate your thru the mountain with no problem, set up an appropriate pace for all and establish breaks every 20 minutes. The hike takes an average of two hours to cover. The distance of the hike up is 4 miles (6,5 km) and the gained altitude is 2200 feet (700 meters). The terrain is not technical and the forest provides with good coverage from the sun. On top, we will take the elevator that runs 406 feet (124 meters) up to the mountain in 40 secs to reach the Eagle´s Nest. There we will enjoy the rewards of our hike with the astonishing views a picnic in the mountain (food not included) or a visit to a restaurant that operates there, you choose. After that, we will take the bus down the mountain to Obersalzberg and then back to Salzburg.
Growing up I looked up to my grandpa who was an air force general. I was always curiois about military history, specially WWII. Almost nine years ago I started guiding bike tours in beautiful Salzburg, but my passion has always been the Alps. That is where the fresh air, the lanscapes and historical treasures are always to be found. For that reason three years ago I decided to take a step to the unknown, follow my passions and create the only Eagle´s Nest hike tour. Combining the practice of exellent guiding, beauty of the landscapes, curiosity and adventure the tour was born. Looking back at life it feels like I was destined to do this. When I was 15, I was climbing for the team of my province. Later in life I studied political science at university giving me an insight into the happenings the lead to WWII.
The ticket to ride the famous brass elevator up the mountain is as well included in the tour.
The price of the tour includes all transport! From Salzburg to the Obersalzberg, bus ride down to Obersalzberg and finally…
If requested I can lend you trekking poles.
We will ride from Salzburg to Obersalzberg, there we will start searching for hidden WWII ruins. After that we will hike from Obersalzberg to the Eagle´s Nest.
最多可有8位年满15周岁的参与者参加。 This tour is ideal for people who like to be active on vacation. If you like to run or go out for walks often the tour is perfect for you. Previous experience hiking is not required as the technical level of the hike is easy.
Please consider that the tour requires that you are healthy. Hiking up the mountain can be difficult, if you can walk 12.000 steps a day visiting a city you can do it. A small tip is to eat and drink a lot one day before the tour. That way you can take the most of the experience.
