This "Intro to Rock Climbing" in the mountains around Chamonix is designed for complete beginners who want to discover this amazing activity led by experienced mountain guides. All the guides in the team are IFMGA-certified, the most rigorous mountain guide certification available. We will meet in the morning in Chamonix from where we will drive to Gailland, our chosen location for this half-day program. There are many great routes suitable for beginners in the area. Once at Gailland, you will receive a briefing on the equipment you will use for the day (harness, helmet, etc.) and we will begin our course. We will introduce you to belaying and other progression techniques and we'll spend the next couple of hours on the rock. No climbing or mountaineering experience is required to participate in this course but take into account that you do need a good fitness level. Gauthier and his team of IFMGA-certified mountain guides (Elis, Kiriakos Mihnea and Viktor) are happy to welcome you in the world-famous mountain town of Chamonix. Gauthier will be your main point of contact during the booking process and will help you with any question you may have. Elis is a very experienced IFMGA guide based in Courmayeur, just crossing the border into Italy's Aosta Valley. Kiriakos is a certified IFMGA guide from Cyprus who currently spends his summers in Chamonix. Mihnea is also IFMGA-certified and is originally from Romania.
