During the first ten minutes, we will enjoy a refreshing snack while I describe our mission and why I am so passionate about the work we are doing. Then, I will spend five to ten minutes describing the tools we will be using and demonstrating how to make a guitar string ring. You will then have thirty minutes to pick your strings and make as many rings as you can with assistance from me. For the last ten minutes, I will show you how you can add beads to your rings if you want. If you are not into the beads, you can leave the rings as they are. The guitar string rings are beautiful in their simplicity too.
There are three lovely hosts for this experience who take turns based on availability: Tori, Kristen, and Liz. All of us work for HALO Missions (Helping And Leading Others) a guitar string jewelry company that doubles as a vocational rehabilitation program for women recovering from addictions. Kristen is the founder who has now been sober for years. Liz has been with the company since the beginning. Tori has also been working for the company for several years because she believes so passionately in the mission. Guitar string jewelry is what helped Kristen stay sober, so she wanted other women to have that opportunity to do something productive. The women are taught how to make the jewelry as a form of art therapy and give them a supplemental income. These rings support a great cause and are perfect souvenirs!

We will conduct our workshop in the Nashville area with the location varying depending on events happening in the downtown area. Generally it will happen in one of 4 locations - Cumberland Park, Cleveland Park in East Nashville, Nashville Farmers Market or Thistle Farms.
This can be great for all ages. If you have little ones, they can play around us while we work since we are in the park. My bachelor's and master's degrees are in teaching, so if you do not think of yourself as particularly crafty, no worries. I will help out in whatever capacity is needed.
