My hometown Utrecht is a great city if you know where to start. This Kickstart tour will give you a first feel of the city, and will be a mix of history, the present and the future. I’ll show you what I love about Utrecht, with fun facts, my family history and an incredible amount of cafes and hidden gardens. We’ll walk through the city along the old canal (Oudegracht) to find the highest church tower of the country, the Domtower. Utrecht is over 2000 years old and you can see how this city flourished way before Amsterdam did. Utrecht is the perfect city for a day of walking and you’ll be amazed what the vibrant student vibe brings to the village-like city, with it’s almost carfree city center. Be prepared for an easy two/three hour walk, where I’ll give you hints on where to go later that day, to have lunch, dinner, an ice cream or an ice cold De Leckere beer.
I’m a 25 year old creative - born and raised in the city of Utrecht. My family roots lay in this city; my uncle works as an actual bell ringer at the Dom tower (!) and by now I’ve lived in pretty much every corner of the city. I started giving tours to my international friends, from short highlight walks to exploring the unknown places. The cozy terraces, the insane amount of bicycles, and the vibrant student vibe; I’d love to show you Utrecht and brag about it!
Stroopwafels (Traditional Dutch caramel waffles) included!
We'll grab a coffee/tea at a café along the route :)
We will start at the Dom square, where the history of Utrecht started 2000 years ago. After this must-see we start our detour from the main tourist sights and we’ll walk through small alleys and depending the ability of the group, we’ll do a loop around the outer city walls along the Maliebaan, the pope’s house, hidden cafes and old shopping streets.
