Welcome to an experience I call Sidewalk Safaris. I'll take you on an anthropological expedition of the fashion scene in Little Five Points, Atlanta's most eclectic, independent, and bohemian retail area. In a city boasting a patchwork of interesting areas, Little Five Points (L5P) has always stood out from the rest of Atlanta as a haven for a colorful assortment of artists, musicians, entrepreneurs and various others who opted to truly follow their dreams. And L5P has always done its own thing with a fabulously Southern flair. Small businesses have traditionally been the lifeblood of Little Five Points, drawing the most eclectic mix of people from all around Atlanta. Where else would you find hipsters, hippies, tattooed rockers and clean-cut college students mingling amid indie shops? On this tour, we’ll explore this unique design scene, led by homegrown fashion designers and trendsetters. This is a shopping tour for those interested in the rich history of Atlanta, as well as amazing vintage and offbeat items. Join us as we explore a neighborhood where each clothing store makes its own statement.
I am an Ivy League-educated fashion designer who has built a brand around integrating my fashion expertise with a PhD in Anthropology to give you a unique, educative, fashion perspective! My company, The Common Thread Project (www.tctproject.com), does the research, and my tours bring this knowledge straight to your closet.
We'll start by visiting some of the Little Five Point's most historical landmarks and then explore nearby boutiques personally selected to complement your particular style.
