We will take a tour around the city, that would look at the historical and architectural landmarks. I will take you on a journey from Ancient Greece, through Bulgarian National Revival, Socialism finishing in nowadays Plovdiv. I would guide you through the most popular landmarks, but show you as well the hidden one, while telling you all the urban legends and actually how some irregularities appeared, because of political decisions, society force or just nature. We will look at the city layer by layer discovering the transformation of the city, by the different political and cultural governance. All that can be combined with stops in local picks for restaurants and tasting of different dishes from the Bulgarian cuisine. If interested they might be detailed information about urban planning, all about political & historical movements, as well as extra than the necessary history of Bulgaria and the Balkans.
I am a graduate architect, born and raised in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I've lived in Denmark and Italy where I did my bachelor and master degrees. I am a passionate traveler where so far I have been in 37 counties some of them are South Korea, Iran, Lebanon, Canada, and my favorite Latvia :) I have been contributing to Wikipedia for more than 5 years now, where I have participated in the collaboration between the National Archive and the Bulgarian Wikipedia.
We will be walking within the borders of the city center - old town, Kapana district, along the Maritsa river and the hills around. If interested we can visit monuments and interesting spots around the city like rowing channel, Brother's mounds, Alyosha Monument, Karshiaka district, Trakiya district, The Youth Hill or the Central Plovdiv Cemetery.
