Cooking from Harvest is an interactive Farm to table experience recommended for groups of 4 guests or more. When you arrive at Finca Concepción, we will greet you with light refreshments and show you around while sharing some historic facts about Puerto Rico's agriculture and this location. We will tell you about the garden project in progress, will cook together and will sit down to eat outdoor enjoying the beautiful scenery of El Yunque mountains. The menu is seasonal and based on availability of fresh products. It includes puertorrican specialties utilizing produce we cultivate when in harvest and or locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. All includes the special touch of Chef Nivia's pinch of Love.
Please feel free to inquire about dates not listed or about hosting a private group ideal for celebrations, family reunions, students or team building efforts. We offer discounts for groups of 10 guests and early bird reservations. Before you book, I suggest you send me a message inquire with possible dates. Be our guest!

I'm a trained culinarian and a nutrition educator who loves to share my passion for our cuisine, culture and the resiliency of our people. Hurricane Maria was a wake up call for me and other puertorricans who realized that we import 85% of what we consume. It then became clear that we must have a local sustainable agriculture and achieve food security. As an advocate and agroecology promoter, I help propagate the importance of consuming local by introducing guests to our unique cuisine utilizing products cultivated by farmers that work hard to reestablish our agriculture. Join me in cultivating and preparing authentic puertorrican specialties the way my grandmother used to cook, incorporating local produce, herbs and spices with a pinch of LOVE!

Juncos
Finca Concepción, named after the great grand mother, is a 30 acres pastureland reserve overlooking El Yunque which has been owned by the same family for 4 generations. In the past, sugar cane for Central Juncos used to be cultivated here. Currently, the family is in the process of planting a fruit orchard and a kitchen garden with the purpose of growing nutritious food while respecting the environment in an ecological manner.

    Had a wonderful time! Nivia is very knowledgeable and friendly, we went picking fresh fruits and vegetables from their garden, and cooked with those very ingredients. The food was absolutely scrumptious and incredible. Highly recommend to all travelers looking for a personalized cooking experience!

    This was very awesome experience to learn and cook on the the hillsides of Puerto Rico with an amazing view of the Junico Mountain. Great people, fresh air, and delicious food. I can’t wait to go back. Truly amazing

    Lovely finca in the hills with a very knowledgeable and skilled hostess to teach us. After picking our produce from the garden we made a scrumptious healthy local Puerto Rican meal. Just wonderful

    Nivia is a true gem! Her passion for cooking and all related things in Puerto Rico is inspiring. My wife and I had a fabulous time. We picked fresh produce from her garden on the finca and then prepared a delicious meal of Canoas de Picadillo. One couple made vegan versions and we made a meat equivalent. If you want to get off the beaten track, see the PR that exists outside of the tourist areas and make a wonderful Puerto Rican connection, then this is for you! Muchas gracias Nivia!!!

    Nivia is a phenomenal cook and she has a great understanding of puerto rican cuisine. She and her nephew shared their personal stories about why organic farming and cooking with harvest were important to them. The farm was located in a beautiful mountain backdrop. We enjoyed cooking, talking and having a meal together. It is a must try experience.

    I am so thrilled that I experienced this cooking class! The setting was unique and the interaction with everyone was incredible. We were able to help plant seeds, transplant seedlings, and learn about the future plans for the farm. A special experience was spending time with the adult horses and the 22 day old colt. I would recommend this to all! Oh, and yes the food was delicious ! The fresh ingredients made it special and more interesting. Chopping, dicing, mashing, and stirring ingredients, developed into a delicious Puerto Rican dinner!
