This will be a seminar that will cover my experience inventing, marketing, and selling a product - from what to name the product, to how to secure trademarks and patents, to how to gain distribution or licensing. We'll talk about cash flow, marketing, advertising, social media, and public relations. We'll talk about selling through online vendors and retail stores, as well as selling to big-box stores like Walmart. This part of the seminar will be about 4 hours. The second part of the seminar will be a hands-on learning experience with anyone who wants to share their idea with me and the group and discuss what they can do, should do, and maybe not do. This part of the seminar should also last about 4 hours. Included in the seminar, we'll do some networking and general discussions about entrepreneurship and its demands - things like how much time you need to dedicate to a business, hiring and outsourcing, rest and relaxation, etc. I want participants in this experience to walk out with knowledge of how to evaluate the product process. I want to help people like me who have a big idea. The seminar should qualify as a tax-deductible business expense for those in business.
In 2006, I invented a product - a stroller accessory parents use to hold their baby gear, purses, diaper bags, etc. on their stroller handle called The Mommy Hook. At the time, I was also working as a public relations director in a public relations and advertising agency. The Mommy Hook got very popular. At one point, 400,000 units a year were sold. My start in this business came with little knowledge about consumer goods, distribution, or intellectual property - I had to learn "on the job" while having a family to support, including twins with autism, and an upcoming divorce. But learn I did, eventually to earn more than 20 trademarks and 7 patents, and gain worldwide distribution and licensing. I have since sold the product for a large sum. I want to share this valuable "Shark Tank"-like experience with people who may be on this road.
I'll supply drinks and snacks throughout the day. We'll maybe have a cocktail or drink at the end of each day.
We'll be at my home, part of The Cowbell Inn, which is listed on AirBNB. I have a variety of spaces for us to talk, as well as a screened porch and back deck to relax.
最多可有6位年满18周岁的参与者参加。 Participants should have some idea about what they want to do in business. This would not be particularly productive as a general seminar in business.
If you're coming from out of town, you can stay in a room at my AirBNB, The Cowbell Inn. But you'll need to let me know as I have the booking calendar closed right now.
