We will meet at the Park Ranger's Station at Rio Vista Park. From there, we will head off on foot via the San Marcos Riverwalk stopping to observe and discuss the ecology of the area that makes it so very unique... about animals, edible and medicinal plants and native lore along the way. We will make our way to City Park where we will get into the river and continue our journey of discovery with a short relaxing float/swim downstream with provided pool noodles to help you along! Using pool noodles instead of inter-tubes allows for a much more intimate experience with the river as you sit lower in the water and can see much more of the water plants and animals you encounter. Eventually, we will end up back where we started at the beautiful Rio Vista Park where you can float down the rapids, if you dare! Come join me on this journey through an urban forest alongside (and in) a spring-fed river... what better way to beat the Texas heat in an unforgettable way!
Hello, Adventurers! I'm a local outdoor educator, wildlife biologist, naturalist and permaculturist. I've got over a decade of experience teaching people of all ages about central Texas ecology and entertaining them along the way! I have lived in the state of Texas most of my life and would be honored to show you around my neck of the woods. Please join me at the river where we will enjoy a walk up river while learning about the plants and animals we see along the way, followed by a float down river back to where we started. The perfect way to cool off after a nice walk in the warm Texas sun.
Pool noodles for comfortable floating, and a dry bag for keys and phones.
We will visit both Rio Vista and City Park while we are together. Our route from Rio Vista will be the riverwalk and our route back will be the river herself!
最多可有10位年满12周岁的参与者参加。 Guests MUST know how to swim!!! No exceptions. If you don't see a workable date on the calendar please message me. I may be able to create a special time slot for you if there is room in my schedule!
Sun Protection (I choose to wear long sleeves, pants and a hat to keep sunscreen out of the river ecosystem)
Please remember to wear appropriate *water* shoes and something to protect you from the sun. I will provide a dry bag for the group for any items that need to be kept dry during your float.
