We will start with an introduction to honeybees, beekeeping, and honey processing. We will observe the honeybees landing and flying out out of the hives. You will be able to see the equipment used in each phase of beekeeping and honey processing. To ensure all guests can experience the bee yard without worrying too much about stings, we will live stream to an outdoor screen, located in the shade, about 25 feet from the hive entrances. You will observe a hive inspection, and will be able to witness the bees work close-up with our observation hives. We will conclude the bee yard experience with a Q & A session and good conversation. If you would like to try on a bee suit and take pictures, we will have suits on hand. Please keep in mind, we can only open the hives on warm days when it is not raining.

I am Tiffany, the owner of Miss Humble B's Hive and a certified beekeeper. I maintain four beehives, although others are added as I catch swarms. I have been sharing my knowledge of beekeeping at local schools, community events, and with families for over 2 years. Sometimes my bees travel along with me in an observation hive that I built. Visitors to my home and my neighbors have helped to develop this backyard experience over the years and I'm looking forward to your visit! Brooks has been beekeeping for over 2 years and enjoys the relaxing atmosphere the beeyard provides. He gladly helps to explains to visitors what we observe in the hives and constantly seeks innovative ways to make beekeeping even more fun.
I'll provide water and a sample of honey.
A bee suit will be available to try on and all beekeeping equipment including a honey extractor will be displayed.
Guests will visit the personal bee yard of Miss Humble B's Hive; a unique backyard experience, in a quiet Winston-Salem neighborhood.
Fragrances can cause the bees to become agitated. Although not required, wearing a long sleeve shirt, pants, and closed shoes is a good idea. The likelihood of getting stung is low, but possible.
