Join your deadpan guide Liam and slapstick health and safety advisor Polly for a factually suspect comedy walking tour of historic St Davids, suitable for all the family. Having mined the darkest corners of the internet and thumbed through the dustiest shelves of literature, Liam and Polly have dispensed with all the facts and created a bizarre, fantastical and often unbelievable exploration of the lesser known legends lurking in Great Britain's smallest city. Through a combination of embellished storytelling, blood-thirsty re-enactments, and with a host of local historical characters to meet, this tongue-in-cheek (and fully insured!) tour takes a seed of truth and brings to life a semi-re-imagined version of the history of this proud little city.
Fire Donkey Productions are writers and performers Liam McKenna and Polly Preston, a Pembrokeshire-based absurdist comedy group who have performed at fringe festivals and theatres across the UK and abroad. They have written a string of surreal comedy shows since 2014, and toured festivals and theatres around the UK, including four appearances at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They won Best Original Piece at Swindon Fringe for their cult smash hit Church of Phil.
Meeting at Oriel y Parc (St David Tourist Information Centre) we will meander down through the city stopping off at various points of generously-interpreted historic interest, and many parts of the city that nobody knew were of special historic interest until we made something up about them. The tour will finish by St Davids Cathedral and the Bishops Palace, which you are then free to explore by yourselves.
As an outdoor event this is weather dependent so it is advised to check the Facebook page (Stdavidscomedytour) for updates. Private bookings for larger groups are also possible on request
