I want to show you some hidden gems of Zagreb, street art, atmospheric courtyards, passages and other cozy nooks, which are not so obvious and easily found. We'll start on the main square, pass through the farmers' market, see a clandestine mural with Gulliver and Lilliputians, proceed to Tkalčićeva and hear some amusing stories about the most elite brothel of Habsburg Empire, take a tranquil staircase to Upper town and explore its picturesque courtyards, go down to the colorful Art park, pass by the most beautiful art nouveau facade in town, and admire the curious mix of buildings on the Republic of Croatia square. If you are not tired, we can also visit courtyard of Studentski Centar (10 minutes away from the Republic of Croatia square) – a very interesting and totally untouristic place, with a lot of history, nice street art, and the most intriguing piece of architecture in Zagreb, of worldwide significance! My idea is to take you to photogenic spots, the tempo of our walk will be adjusted to your wishes, so you can take your time to make photos. In winter months, if it's cold, we can make a coffee/tea break to warm up , according to your wishes :)
I’m a freelance translator, journalist in the field of art and culture and photographer with a passion for traveling. I’m very much into arts, culture and history. For a while I worked as a tour guide with a focus on tours related to art and architecture. I finished a 6-month course for tour leader, and due to my passion for art, culture and history I gained considerable knowledge in these fields. I have a lot of non-formal experience as a guide a well – as a member of international student association, I was a guide to foreign students who came to the exchange programs to Zagreb. As an Airbnb host, I showed around to my guests whenever I had time - my references speak enough. In recent years I've been writing articles about Zagreb for the platform Spotted by Locals. I really enjoy sharing the special places in my city and insider tips!
Traditional Croatian sweets :)
I want to show you some beautiful courtyards on Upper town, hidden behind the closed doors, street art which is not easily found nor on obvious locations, and some passages, corners, staircases, small streets which are not on the main touristic routes. And the courtyard of Studentski centar, which hides a unique architectural gem not mentioned in any standard guidebooks. And during this walk I will share some of my photographic knowledge :)
The tour can be modified according to your wishes, e.g. with more focus on street art, art nouveau, historic palaces, remarkable architecture, interesting monuments/sculptures in public space etc.
