No partner required. You'll join the regular weekly beginners swing dancing class with London locals to learn some of the basics and fundamentals of swing dancing. By the end of the class you will have some moves enabling you to go swing dancing anywhere in the world. Everyone is welcome from absolute beginners up. Every beginners lesson starts with learning the basic footwork of a swing dancing style, then builds basic moves upon that footwork. We support you to learn how to dance, practice your basics, and think about the fundamentals of swing dancing in new ways. You will rotate partners frequently so you can meet and dance with local people. (Please note that the second class of the evening is not included as part of the Airbnb experience. Thanks very much for your understanding.)
Holly & Brian have been swing dancing for years and now teach weekly classes in Harringay North London for Swing Patrol, the world's largest swing dancing school frequently featured on TV, including BBC's Dragon's Den. Swing dancing changed Brian’s life. He discovered joy, a constructive social life, new friends all over the world, and an enjoyable source of mental and physical wellbeing - all things he wants to share with people. Dancing encouraged him to stop smoking, lose 30 kg of fat, and travel more. Holly took her first swing dancing class as a break from the books at University. She had never laughed so hard. Upon moving to London to edit and publish crime fiction, she immediately sought out a local swing scene to keep up her dancing and make some new friends. North London is now her lindy hop home.
The Langham Club in Harringay is a "working men's club" - a type of local community venue that grew out of the socialist movement.
Arrive at 6.45pm as class starts at 7pm. When you enter the building, walk through the doors and go down the door with the small stairs in front of you where you'll see the dance floor.
