I'll take you on a visit to San Francisco's bustling Pier 45. You'll get an inside look at the most sustainable and ethical seafood companies, learn what it means to be a sustainable seafood consumer and advocate, and see which fresh catches are on deck.
I'm a well-known Bay Area fishmonger and chef specializing in local seafood cuisine. I have an extensive knowledge of locally harvested seafood and sustainable fishing practices. Surfing and fishing California waters my entire life has forged my respect for ocean wildlife and strictly guides my decisions about what seafood is sensible to put on your plate.
We'll meet at Musée Mecanique and go to Pier 45, where we'll visit wholesalers TwoXSea and East-West Seafood. These companies have the most local and sustainably harvested catches. We'll also walk along the pier where local fishermen offload their morning catches.
Make sure to wear slip-resistant and covered-toe shoes or boots. Bring a camera, a drink, and a snack if you'd like. We may be able to sample some local seafood along our journey.
