This experience could be the beginning of your plastic-free future! You will learn to use California plants for inspiration to do painting, block-printing and stencil-printing to decorate your own beeswax wrap to replace single use plastic wrappings and bags. You can make your cloth into a wax wrap or sew it into a lunch bag if you want. We'll use beeswax to saturate the fabric and make it bacteria resistant and durable for multiple wipes and rinses. Join in this hands-on experience and bring back home your own eco friendly wrap and vibe of Northern California!
I taught both children and adults in textile crafts and art for almost thirty years in Finland and trained teachers in that field at the University of Helsinki. Since moving to California two years ago I've opened my own fiber art studio where I continue weaving, dyeing wool using local plants, and teaching workshops on knitting, dyeing and up-cycling materials such as textiles and plastics. I embrace traditions and meld those ideas and methods with modern skills. I'm committed to environmentally sustainable crafts and would like to share the joy of creating and making with you.

The workshop takes place at Auli's Studio. We will work partly inside the studio, but we can work partly outdoors when the weather is nice. My studio is on our peaceful and naturally beautiful property next to national parkland not far from Muir Woods and only 10 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge.
