My goal is to show you the beauty of coffee with special attention put upon the Icelandic scene of speciality segment. We will start with few words about coffee itself - it's the short introduction suited to your needs, so it doesn't matter if you're pro, home barista or absolute beginner - we will have a lot of topics to talk about. The main part of the event is cupping. We will dive into describing and comparing few coffees from the Icelandic best roasters using same methods as coffee professionals all over the world. Home cupping with simplified protocol is a tool that once learned can be easily recreated at home, and you can use it later with all the coffees that will stand on your way and to practice your own sensory skills. Last part of experience is brewing coffee of your choice. This allows us to see in practice how different factors of brewing influence the taste of final cup. We can compare coffees or brewing methods. We can just sit with a nice cup or use this opportunity to make your next home brews better. After the workshop you won't feel lost in coffee shop again. And when you get back home - you'll be able to prepare the best Icelandic coffee cup for your friends to accompany all your stories.
I work as a bartender and a barista since 2012, almost two years ago I came to Iceland from Poland and after few months of getting to know the culture I started to work as a barista in Reykjavik. I'm constantly brewing, drinking, tasting and buying coffee. At work, at home, at adventures - it's always me, my grinder and coffee beans, and if there is access to hot water / fire / electricity - I can brew coffee there. I'm visiting new places through local coffee and I want to share what I learned about "here" with other people like me. Everywhere I am I try to get as deep as possible, that's how I get into Icelandic Barista Competition, but while sharing with others I believe simplicity is a key, cause at the end the cup of coffee should be a cup of pleasure.
Coffee beans, if you have preferences (roast level, varietals, regions) let me know earlier, I'll do what is possible.
The best coffee doesn't have to belong to coffee house, it can be brewed at your own house! That's why I want to invite you to my place - typical apartment in central Reykjavik. I will show you, that you can reenact the abroad experience at your own four walls with just few extra things.
最多可有4位年满18周岁的参与者参加。 Apartment is on the first floor, stairs on the way.
We will drink coffee in large amount, be ready for a huge caffeine intake. We won't drink any espresso nor milky coffees, although there will be milk / plant based milk alternative available on side. It is possible to schedule private cupping, also we can arrange event for bigger group.
