Due to our geographical location in the countryside, we have adopted the model of a "Destination Farm Brewery". We use local ingredients for brewing and depend largely on direct sales to consumers who come sample our beers in the taproom / beer garden while enjoying the estate. Fishing, canoeing, pedal boats, picnics tables and a bocce ball court are available to our customers. Our 7 HL brewing system is housed inside the 17th century barn near the watermill, it is surrounded by several lakes, streams and waterfalls. All work to install the state of the art brewing equipment was done with the goal of improving, renovating and enlarging existing buildings while at the same time respecting and maintaining the visual aspect of the site as well as its historical value. The brewery tour and tasting takes about 45 minutes, afterwards, you can stay as long as you like and enjoy the facilities.
After watching the craft movement boom in the USA, I realized our family estate, Chateau de Miserai, offered the ideal setting for a destination brewery. It is only 90 minutes away from Paris in the beautiful Perche region of Normandy and we had a 17th century watermill on the property with an abandoned barn right on a lake. What a fantastic opportunity to open a destination brewery! I knew if we could produce on site delicious American style craft beers such a juicy hazy New England IPA or a malty amber ale, it will be a winning combination. Mission accomplished, our waterfront taproom / beer garden is now waiting for you so, come on over and enjoy the "Brasserie du Perche" experience. We welcome dogs outdoors, though please be sure to keep them on a leash!
We sell picnic baskets with charcuterie from local providers and have a food truck on some weekends.
You can rent fishing gear from us and go for trouts, carps, pikes etc.
The experience will include the following: 1) Brewery tour for your group during which we will explain each step of the brewing process, we will also go over the mill's history, flour production in the 17th century and its role in the French resistance during WW II. 2) A flight of 4 beers that you can enjoy in our taproom, beer garden or on our boat dock, by the water. 3) Access to our pedal boats, kayaks and picnic tables for the afternoon.
You can drive over from Paris for the day or book the chateau and watermill for the weekend. (Search for Chateau de Miserai on airbnb). Price includes tour + flight of 4 beers + on site amenities.
