Icelandic Mythical Walk
MEET THE ELVES, TROLLS & GHOSTS OF ICELAND
Iceland is sometimes called the land of the Sagas and on this mythical walk, you get the chance to hear many interesting sagas involving the hidden people and creatures of Iceland
We will tell you all about the Elves and Trolls of Iceland, Ghosts like the Deacon of the dark river, the unique mostly aquatic monsters and the 13 Santa’s (it’s not enough to have just one Santa Claus in Iceland after all ;)).
We start off in the heart of Old Town Reykjavik talking about Icelandic Vikings and Magic. We walk a few steps to the oldest graveyard in Reykjavik where we learn how to raise a zombie/ghost. From there we walk up to an Elfstone and visit the Elves of Iceland. Next, it's a short walk to the Catholic Cathedral and once there it's stories of the Trolls of Iceland and their mischief. On we walk to the second oldest, spooky and beautiful graveyard Hólavallakirkjugarður where the ghosts of Iceland come and join the tour. We finish walking alongside Reykjavik Pond and end up in front of the Parliament building of Iceland. It's a very short walk from where we end, to where we started our adventure into the myth of Iceland.
Other things to note
Just make sure to use layers of clothes as it can get a little chilly in Iceland and we walk in any weather.

Hi, my name is Valur and together with my expert local guides, we do the walking tours of Your Friend in Reykjavik. We know how to entertain as well as educate like hundreds of 5-star reviews can confirm. We've got a passion for our country, it's history, food, beer, and mythology and we try to make sure some of the love we have for Iceland rubs off onto our friends from around the world.
You are also in safe hands with us as we are official tour guides and members of the Icelandic Tourist Guide Association which is granted only to those who have passed a comprehensive one-year training program, approved by the Icelandic Ministry of Education. Above all: Our Reykjavik Walking tours are fun but always educational. Daily Food, Beer, City and Mythical Walking tours available.

- This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Snædís (i think that's how her name was spelled?) was a masterful storyteller. She was very good at English and her pacing was great. She also was able to answer specific questions we had about the culture and community. Well worth it! Snædís emailed us afterwards with a list of restaurants and other places to check out. Also, the company was super flexible about re-arranging our tour when the original one had to be cancelled because our flight got in late!
- Our guide Stefan conveyed his deep knowledge of Icelandic mythology and folklore with humor, vivid details, and sound effects! He was very friendly, remembered everybody's names, and made sure every member in our group could see and hear during our tour. This was a really wonderful introduction to Iceland and Reykjavik!
