Indulge yourself in the sabor (flavor), music and traditions of Cuba during a fun immersive experience that will make you feel like you are spending an evening in my home province of Pinar del Rio! My lush tropical garden entices you to come in, sit and enjoy. The soul-stirring sounds of Cuban music set the tone as guests arrive and get to know each other. As the evening unfolds, relax and enjoy Cuban Son, Guajira, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Danzon, Jazz and a few surprises in between. You are encouraged to dance, sing and play along. You might meet local musicians joining together for a descarga (jam session). Or grab one of our claves or guiros or bongos, feeling the rhythm take a hold as you sway to the beat. This sets the stage for the main course, a classic savory Cuban meal. You'll enjoy lechon asado (roasted pork), moros (black beans and rice cooked together with spices), platanos (fried sweet banana), tostones (fried green banana) and drinks. Leave room for dessert, along with conversation and laughter! This experience is not only about food, it is also about music, culture and celebrating life. In Spanish, English or both: Mi casa es su casa (My house is your house). Please join us!
I am a Cuban transplant whose earliest memories are of my family's farm in the countryside of Cuba, where my parents would often roast an entire pig. The end result was delicious meat so tender you could pull it apart. Even after pork was banned after 1964, my parents would continue to roast in secret. Upon immigrating to the U.S., our traditions came with us. We still roast pork, but no longer secretly! I am proud of my culture and traditions and hope to share them with others. Cooking, hosting, sharing – these are my passions! My profession is graphic design, but when I am not designing, I channel my creativity into hosting great get-togethers in my lush tropical garden and bringing people together from all walks of life. There is a very special vibe to these gatherings. Everyone leaves with a smile and happy memories. You will, too.
