Entering into the Old Town is like stepping back in time and having the city’s living history unfold around you. Time travel with us to an age when animals hopped from rooftop to rooftop, noblemen and ladies rode their horses through the narrow, cobbled streets, and the harbour of the Old Town was a place for trade. We begin at the exceptionally photogenic main square, Stortorget, in the main square of Stockholm's Old Town. At the Royal Palace, we'll introduce you to the Royal Family, and it's history. While standing outside the Nobel Museum learn Alfred Nobel and the Swedes’ creative innovation skills. We'll have a quick peek at the statue of Saint George and the Dragon, followed by the narrowest alley in Stockholm before we continue to the island of Riddarholmen (“The Island of Nobility”), known for stunning views of the lakeside of Stockholm and the oldest building in town. With that your Stockholm Old Town Walk is complete - we hope you enjoyed this treat!
I'm the founder of OURWAY Tours, specialising guided tours within Scandinavia. I started in Stockholm, 2011, as a qualified guide with the question: What do people enjoy when they travel? The answer we found, is to: "Meet the people, try the food, live the stories" and so that's what we do. Our team of handpicked locals want nothing more than to share their love for the city with you. If you're lucky you'll tour with: Elin, George, Helmut, Joshua, Kevin, Laura, Myriam, Reyley, Sofia, Vincent or York. In short, we give you "people, places, and culture—the local way".
This is an extensive walk of the Old Town including its history and an introduction to the country and the Swedes, where we will use all of our scenes. We will make multiple stops throughout the Old Town and mix the general stops with visits to sites that are often difficult to find or overlooked by visitors. The route of the tour might vary depending on who it's with and what the interest of the guests are.
Comfortable walking shoes
Look for our guide dressed in blue or white with the logo OURWAY. The majority of this tour takes place in areas where you'll have to walk on cobblestones. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes.
