After meeting at Nippori station (JR Yamanote line), we walk to my home which takes only 3 minutes. I will first introduce Nerikiri (Japanese confections which is served at a tea ceremony), and the ingredients and tools. Nerikiri is made of white beans and shaped beautifully. You will make 5 designs of nerikiri learning how to shape them with nerikiri tools. After making the Nerikiri, we will make matcha tea. Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder made from the young and nutrient rich leaves of green tea plant. You have probably tasted matcha latte or matcha ice cream before but in this class, we will make pure matcha tea. No sugar, no milk. The matcha tea will accompany the delicious nerikiri we made. We usually taste one Nerikiri with matcha tea. You can take the rest home. Nippori is famous for "Yanaka Ginza (traditional street where there are many shops)" and " Fabric town". Please enjoy the street after the cooking class! Note : The Nerikiri dough and Anko (red bean paste) will be prepared by the instructor before the class. But the recipe for Nerikiri dough will be given.

Nippori is known for "Fabric Town" an area where you can find interesting items if you are into arts and crafts, there are also beautiful traditional streets and many temples to visit. After the cooking class, I will be happy to explain to you how to reach these spots that are only a few minutes walking distance.
