Our evening begins at an award winning brew pub, where they produce very high quality craft beer in small batches. From IPAs to sour beers, we will be sampling all 6 beers that they have on tap. While we are enjoying our beer, I will explain the differences in brewing techniques and the history behind the world's oldest drink and, hopefully, we'll even get a chance to meet master brewer, Eric. Once we are done the tasting, you can decide which of their bottled beers you'd like to take with you to enjoy on our way to our first food stop, the best döner kebab in the city. Brought here by Turkish immigrants more than 40 years ago, the döner is now Germany's favorite street food. Next up is a food marriage like no other, pizza and beer. The Italian invasion into the German culinary scene began in the 1950s and was the first widely accepted international cuisine in the country. In the last 5 years Berlin has seen an explosion in Neapolitan style pizza joints and today, a neighborhood is not complete without its very own. We will head to my favorite one to enjoy some mind blowing pizza and a beer with a quest for social responsibility. We'll finish off the evening at a specialty beer shop that focuses on traditional Bavarian beers, most of which you can not find outside of Germany. Afterwards, I'll point out some great places to grab a beer in the neighborhood :)
Hi, I'm Julian, a Berlin based guide, traveler, and food lover. I'm originally from Toronto, but I have always been drawn to Berlin, the birthplace of my grandmother. In 2008 I came to study German history and immerse myself in the culture, immediately falling in love with the city's gritty charm. I moved here permanently in 2012 and have been leading tours through Berlin ever since. Aside from working as a full time guide, I am a sourdough bread maker, fermentation enthusiast, and beer lover! I am not just interested in tasting food, but I also want to know the story behind it. I am combining my love of history with my passion for food and beer to introduce you to Berlin's food scene.
