Let me take you on a six kilometer, somewhat hilly site jog at your preferred pace around Newcastle. Starting at Newcastle Customs House Hotel and ending at Newcastle Beach, you will see some of Newcastle's major sites and attractions, hear about diverse places to go for breakfast or dinner and take in Newcastle's best coastal views with commentary about the wider region and its many attractions.
For as long as I can remember I've been running around. Exploring the world on my feet has always been my favourite way of discovery. Be it site jogging in a foreign city, trail running in remote areas, or sky running for the views. Then, a few years ago, I came to Newcastle. Also known as the 'region of runners', our warm, maritime climate makes for excellent running conditions. Combined with an extensive network of walking routes, local nature reserves, dramatic cliffs and coastal views, there's hardly a better place to run and explore.
A favourite among friends and family from Europe, our loop initially takes us along the Newcastle waterfront and through the Honeysuckle entertainment and museum precinct. Passing the civic area, we take in the hustle and bustle of Darby Street before ascending a spectacular walkway on the cliffs to see the wider region from several lookouts, and eventually finish at scenic Newcastle Beach.
