You will first get familiar with all our birds, and the way our breeding station operates to save various endangered species. Then, you will join the action.. You will participate in feeding the birds of prey, including our bald eagle Helen, vulture Omar, pair of Harris hawks and few others. They will fly just above your heads, and they will land (should you dare to try it!) on your arm protected by a special glove. We will finish off by showcasing the training of the fastest bird of prey on the planet, our falcon Gulliver. This is a hands-on experience, quite literally!
Eliska & Matej
We are young couple that was brought up by their parents to love animals and nature. Eliska's parents runs a rescue and breeding station for birds and small mammals. As a family organization, we look after some 120 animals of all sizes 7 days a week: A couple dozen owls, hawks, eagles, falcons, parrots, a few small mammals, and even three fluffy dogs. Eliska's father Petr has been mastering the art of falconry for more than 40 years. As a matter of fact, the Czech falconry is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and Petr is on of the best ornithologists in the country!
Penthea is an officially incorporated non-profit organization based in Prague, Czech Republic. The family-run institution has been around for more than 2 decades providing shelter for handicapped animals, lecturing on topics of ornithology and ecology, training birds of prey born in captivity for survival in nature, and more.
We will meet at the meeting point in the city center. We will then drive for about 20 minutes to a village called Cholupice, where our rescue and breeding station is located. After the 2-hour long program is finished, we will drive you safely back to the original meeting point.
No worries about the weather! Even though this is mainly outdoor event, there is a garden house providing cover from an incidental rain from which you can still fully participate in the whole event. We also have umbrellas for everybody.
