We'll meet at the cathedral in La Laguna, a picturesque little city that has preserved a lot of its old, colonial charm. After introducing ourselves and spending some time visiting the main sights, we'll hop on a public bus for a 20 minute ride up to Cruz del Carmen, in Anaga. Once we're up there we'll take a minute to admire the view and take some pictures while I give you an overview of the island and the walk that lies ahead. After that, its time to go! The path we'll take descends from the Anaga range 900 meters over sea level all the way down to the beach at Punta del Hidalgo, which will take us about five hours including photo and food stops. This path packs an amazing variety of views and sceneries in quick sucession. From lush, green forests to rugged peaks and steep cliffs, it feels like walking through a whole continent in just a few hours. Depending on the time of day we'll start the excursion, we will be making a stop for lunch or an afternoon snack. Once we arrive at Punta del Hidalgo, we'll admire the view one last time and say our goodbyes and farewells. From there we'll hop on the public bus and take our tired, happy selves back to civilization.
I've worked as a mountain guide for most of my professional life, though I've also studied political science and do freelance writing as well. I've worked as a guide in Patagonia, Norway, Iceland, France and I'm adding Tenerife to that mix! There are some surreal, off the beaten path landscapes here that deserve to be seen by some intrepid travellers.
Bus tickets to Anaga and from Punta del Hidalgo are included.
On this tour we'll walk around the historic district of La Laguna, before we get on the bus to Anaga natural park. Once there we will see a variety of landscapes and sceneries as we walk down the mountain ridge to the coast. On the way we'll pass through Chinamada, a wonderful village with stone houses and a good spot to use the restrooms and have a refreshment. Finally the tour ends in Punta del Hidalgo, where we take the bus home.

This is a medium level hike so some hiking experience is recommended. Something to keep in mind is that because we're going downhill, it's not very challenging physically but you'll be using your knees quite often. Bring water and good hiking shoes and you'll have the time of your life!
