Visit a traditional Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory and learn the secrets of one of the most celebrated ingredients of Italy. Watch the cheese makers at work and taste some cheese with honey and local wine.

Learn the origins of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese on a visit to a cheese factory in Parma. Hear how the cheese – protected by the EU – is still produced following traditional methods. Exclusively made in the Zona Tipica of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena and parts of Bologna and Mantova, parmesan cheese dates back over 9 centuries.

Watch the cheese makers pull the product from the milk vats, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the process of cooking and separating the whey. Visit the shaping and salting rooms before going to the stagionatura where the cheese is aged.

Savor the sight and smell of thousands of wheels of cheese. Learn about the strict tests performed by the Consorzio, such as hammering the cheeses before the fire branding ritual. Then, taste the delicious cheese with some honey and local wine!

The cheese factory is 15 min. driving form Parma city center. We can meet at Parma train station if you are coming to Parma by train and then we will take you to the Parmigiano cheese factory for free

    I recommend this to everyone who wants to learn something about Italian (Parmigiano) culture and the food. It's great to learn actively about these things instead of watching it on youtube. great tasting in the end!

    It was great to see the process of making the Parmigiano Reggiano and have the cheese tasting at the end. Mattia was knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share with us his experience as the son of a cheese maker. We definitely recommend this experience!

    The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We found the experience learning about how Parmiggiano Reggiano is made deeply enriching. A family run business gave it the unique touch and brought us to appreciate the product so much more. The tasting at the end was delicious. We were very happy with the experience and the explanations of the process. Highly recommend!

    We had a great time learning about the process of making Parmigiano Reggiano cheese with Mattia. We were coming into Parma by train and so Mattia picked us up from Parma station and took us to the cheese factory where his father, with over 40 years experience, was making the cheese. As Mattia himself had grown up helping out his father, he had great knowledge of the entire process and was able to explain everything very succinctly to us, at the same time allowing us to view the process first hand. Overall a fantastic learning experience we would not have otherwise been able to do ourselves - would highly recommend!

    This was a great way to spend a few hours and immerse yourself in part of Italian culture and in a product that most people are familiar with. Our guide, Matthia was tremendously helpful and informative. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and provided recommendations for lunch as well as places to visit in Parma. If you’re in the neighborhood, check this out!

    We both enjoyed the tour. We learned a lot about the production of Parmegiano Reggiano, and our guide Mattthia was very knowledgeable and shared the story of his parents who are the artisan cheese makers. He picked us up at the train station and dropped us in the center of Parma with great recommendations for further sight seeing and a great recommendation for lunch. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in the Italian food and culture.
