Once you have arrived at our lovely little kitchen in the very heart of Colombo we will start by teaching you how to open a King Coconut for a cooling drink. Since coconut is the foundation of Sri Lankan cooking you will also make your own coconut milk! Thereafter we will move on to cook a number of traditional Sri Lankan curries and accompanying salads. Throughout the class we will tell you all about the various herbs and spices being used as well as where all vegetables come from. When you have finished cooking your Rice and Curry we will head to the dining area and enjoy it all together with some drinks, a traditional dessert and a good conversation!
I am a keen traveller and I am passionate about cooking. When I visit new countries I always try to book a cooking class. It is not only a great way to learn about local food but also to learn about new cultures. I am now happy that I can give that experience to visitors coming to Sri Lanka! The main chef at Aunty’s is Damien. He is a real foodie who loves dishes from all over the world although Sri Lankan food has a special place in his heart. He is very passionate about teaching people how to cook Sri Lankan food and tell stories about its history and spices. He is originally from a Sri Lankan Hill Town called Kandy, but now lives in the capital, Colombo.

We have a small house in the middle of Colombo located on a very cozy street away from all the buzzling traffic. This particular street is one of those places where all our friendly neighbours know each other and socialize out on the street itself. Considering how much colombo has developed recently this street offers a lovely blast from the past.
