Learning Vietnamese is not only for those who plan to live in Vietnam. Even you are here for just a few days, it is still good to get to know a new aspect of Vietnamese culture, just like eating a new food or seeing a new place. This experience will take you to an absolutely new world - the Vietnamese language! I will teach you some basic and useful Vietnamese expressions and let you practice in real situations. - First, we will meet up at a lovely Vietnamese-style coffee shop for a theory lesson. I will introduce you Vietnamese alphabet and tones (which is the most difficult :)) ), basic greetings, numbers, money, shopping and having meals in restaurants. Through teaching the language, I will explain some culture tips that you SHOULD know while in Vietnam, in terms of connecting with locals. - Then we will practice in real situations! I will take you to a local market that sells everything from clothes, shoes to street food, fruit. Here you have chance to practice speaking Vietnamese to the locals: greetings, ordering, asking for price and bills, paying, compliment on food. You will pay for what you eat or buy to practice asking and paying money. PLEASE BE NOTED THAT when the class is conducted in the evening, the local market will be closed already so we can go to shops instead.
I am a Vietnamese and English teacher living and working in Hanoi. I have been teaching for 4 years now, both English for Vietnamese students and Vietnamese for foreigners. I also had 3 years working for non-profit organizations and 7 months studying in Europe. I am really interested in cultural exchange and sharing my knowledge with others. I find myself passionate about teaching Vietnamese as it is such a great way to help others get to know not only the language but also the culture and lifestyle of VN. Each language can tell you a lot about locals' lives and Vietnamese is not an exception
We will meet up in a coffee shop. Then we walk around to street food restaurants and a local market to practice Vietnamese.
