Think of a simple thing, like when you first dived into the sea, or when you first rode your bike, or fell in love, think of all your best memories.. they all have a common simple ingredient, exploration.. the unknown. No matter how hard we try to ignore or escape it, it will always be around, as it is maybe the most important ingredient of life. I am not saying that seeking it is a must, or even the right thing to do sometimes. But, if exploration is what you need, now.. Welcome to my experience! We'll meet in Cismigiu and go over the next 3-4 hours action plan. There are some classical places you should see, the radio house, a very high rooftop over the city and some well preserved public buildings from before '89 but options are endless. My main goal will be to make you feel the flavor and history of the city and people that lived here, alongside a fair bit of adrenaline(get comfy/sporty clothing on) . After we're done exploring, we'll share drinks and snacks at my place, in the city centre, where i have a collection of things, found while exploring abandoned places around Europe.
My name is Silviu, I am 34. Exploring was my main drive for a few years. I did it through sports, under the sea, up in the mountains, by immersing myself into other cultures and by doing this. While mostly a nomad, i am a local here, in Bucharest. Entering abandoned places, a bit of adrenaline, feeling how ephemeral everything is, getting a taste of these spaces that got frozen in time is my most passionate endeavor lately. Bucharest is a gem in that way, it is the Berlin of the early 90's and, in the past couple of years, i have explored so many of these places here, full of magic and history. Join me in this adventure!
Fresh juice before, beers after :)
There is a strong element of adaptation, some examples: Casa radio - Huge concrete temple, only out sized by "the house of people". A communist ministry building that is almost untouched in the last 30 years. A couple of the highest 3 rooftops over the city. A hidden gem of an outdoor cinema right in the heart of the city. The most impressive street art here, located inside a famous abandoned building. Abandoned villas from different epochs.
