We meet in São Bento train station, hop in the train and in less than 30 minutes will be at the gates of Porto’s Mountains, where the best kept secret of Porto is waiting for you: the authentic village of Couce, completely surrounded by trees and mountains. Step by step, we leave the city buzz behind, discovering Porto’s Mountains, where we will hike, walk by a river, admire goats and sheep pasturing and visit a hidden village (with less than 10 inhabitants), where we will rest, relax and enjoy a tasty picnic with fruits and Portuguese tapas with products of this region. Let yourself be surprised by landscape contrasts, in a relaxing hike for all levels of experience (9km with the picnic halfway), through stunning trails that tell the stories of ancient watermills, the Roman presence and their gold mines and even an imposing shale quarry, while we feel embraced by the forest and pure nature. I only hike in small groups. In my opinion, a balanced way to enjoy a personal experience and (my) Portuguese hospitality. And regarding the picnic, I only buy fresh and local products (from small businesses also owned by nice people).
Olá! I’m Ricardo and I have always loved travelling, meeting new people, exploring nature, discovering local foods and, above all, sharing experiences. I am an experienced hiker and after travelling for over a year, I returned to my beloved Porto and while doing my weekly hikes in Porto’s mountains, I started seeing it more and more as a little wonder that deserved to be shared with other travelers who also seek a close connection with nature and local culture. I am also full of travel stories, fun facts and tips about Porto, which will be my pleasure to share in order to make your trip to Porto even more special. Let’s take a hike?

Porto's mountains offer breathtaking trails, where we will hike through different landscapes until we are completely surrounded by the mountain and its forest. Couce Village is truly a hidden gem, that even a lot of locals haven't heard about, where time seems to have its own pace. Most travelers always get surprised to find such place so close from the city center.
