We will meet in the parking lot of the Pine Tree Circle Shopping Center in the heart of Topanga Canyon (located at 120 N Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga, CA 90290) and then caravan to the trailhead parking area. We will then embark on the guided hike into the Santa Ynez Canyon for approximately 3 hours. We'll take a short break mid-point to enjoy a healthy snack. During the hike, I will describe the geological history of the area, pointing out native plants and sightings of wildlife, as well as connecting trails to other destinations in Topanga State Park.
I am a Los Angeles native who has explored the wonders of the Santa Monica Mountains for over 15 years. I love introducing people to the beauty, geology, history, plantlife and wildlife of this amazing area. I believe that we can all benefit from spending time in nature to nurture our body, mind & soul.
I provide a small selection of healthy snacks.
We will hike through the Santa Ynez Canyon in Topanga State Park. This is a moderately-challenging, out & back, 5-mile roundtrip hike through various terrains that offers beautiful ocean views. The trail takes you through a wildflower meadow, downhill and uphill switchbacks, and a lush forrest of Oak and Sycamore trees where several sandstone caves can been seen.
It is advisable that guests be prepared for a moderately challenging hike and bring water to stay hydrated. Please be advised that this experience may be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
