I'll pick you up in front of your apartment with a van or a car (depending on the number of people) and drive you to our destination (10min from the city center). After settling in the garden pergola, right beside my family home, you will have the chance to try some homemade Dalmatian wine or schnapps and then we will start preparing our meal. I will guide you through the whole process of making this dish step by step. We will prepare an octopus or veal in a traditional way called "under the bell" (we call it peka). Meat or fish is placed in a large, shallow round baking pan and is covered with large iron bell. The whole bell is then put on and covered with hot coal. The octopus is simultaneously cooked and baked to achieve a unique taste. My goal is to teach you to prepare this meal in a traditional Dalmatian way and for this reason if you want you will be fully involved in the whole process of preparing the dish - from fire ignition, bell preparation, octopus/veal cleaning and preparing other ingredients to finalizing the meal under the iron bell. This is a real opportunity to enjoy the unique and unforgettable flavors of Dalmatian cuisine and knowing the locals.
My name is Marko and I am 28 years old. I work for a marketing agency and play basketball. As I am a very passionate foodie, cooking has become a big hobby of mine. I am really passionate about preparing traditional Dalmatian dishes, especially meals under the bell. This way of preparing food is typical for this region and is passed on from generation to generation.
We'll be settled in the garden pergola (in my family home), which is an ideal place to socialize over food.
