We will begin with a peek in the Gallery, featuring jewelry handcrafted by US artisans, and a tour of our Studio School. I will also share some history of our 1890 Victorian-era building. In the workshop, you will use steel letter stamps and a hammer to impress words of your choice onto sterling silver strips. Then, you will form the strip into a circle and solder it together (with help). Finally, oxidize (blacken) the ring, and polish to your desired finish. We limit the workshop to five students to guarantee lots of personal instruction, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates.
I’m Jennifer and I’ve been making art all of my life, from drawing and painting to my current passion, jewelry making. I own Wear Ever Jewelry Gallery and Studio School in charming Alexandria, Virginia, where I teach students to create unique and personal jewelry using traditional hand techniques. You will be guided through the jewelry making process by me and/or Beth, our goldsmith with 30 years of experience. I’ve been making and exhibiting my own jewelry for 15 years and my Master’s degree in Jewelry and Metals equips me with a thorough knowledge of design and techniques. My work has been honored by the jewelry industry’s Saul Bell Design Awards, Niche Awards, and MJSA Vision Awards.
All tools and materials provided. Smocks will be available.
