Our hometown of Anchorage has twelve 5,000 foot peaks buttressing the eastern edge of the city and rising out of the Turnagain Arm like sentinels. Among these goliaths, there are dozens of peaks and trail systems of varying shapes, sizes, and terrains. Join us to explore these mighty peaks, rolling foothills, rain forest paths, and alpine meadows and lakes. We hope to see Dall Sheep, Moose, wild birds, and the myriad little creatures that inhabit the mountains. This is an all-day adventure (4-10 hours) to spots only locals know, and we want to make it a day you will never forget. Every hike is unique, and options are limitless-we like to go with the flow and cater each trip to its vibe. First, either Dan or Kristina will meet you at our midtown cottage home where we will cover the essentials-gear checks, maps, and plans. We have a lot of extra gear-so no worries-we'll make sure you have an excellent pack! From there, we will drive to the trail head and begin our trek. Last, for those who are interested, we like to finish our trips Alaska-style with a stop at a local brewery. We will relax and enjoy a brew in the midnight sun to finish off a great day.
Kristina And Dan
Dan and I (Kristina) have spent a lifetime meandering in our local mountains, where we find an endless well of joy. We have found places for great views, challenging ascensions, and gentle wandering that fill your soul with peace and contentment. We like to get off the beaten path and explore these special spots around Anchorage with Suki, our sweet trail dog. Together, we have EMT, CPR/first aid, and wilderness first aid experience, as well as bear and moose safety experience. We love to show people the awe-inspiring natural beauty of our home. Come out and experience Alaska's Great Wild Beauty!
You will pack your own sack lunch, but we have plenty of trail snacks to share.
We will make sure at gear-check there is enough water for the trip.
If you have forgotten something-don't worry, we have plenty of extra gear to share for the day-from backpacks to bear spray.
We will be in the front range mountains around Anchorage and the mountains and foothills bordering Turnagain Arm. There are so many options, it is easy to find something for everyone-even families with kids! From gentle paths that lead to stunning alpine meadows and lakes, to rocky ridge climbs and steep ascents, to boreal rain forest paths that meander peacefully, I will show you the best local trails. Let’s go!
Please tell me if you have any dietary restrictions and/or allergies! Please make sure you have good hiking shoes. Ankle support is good but not essential, good tread on the sole is important.
