Following paths only locals know, we'll trace the footsteps of famous philosophers and politicians as I'll take you through some of the most picturesque areas around the ancient heart of the city. After about 2 hrs we'll conveniently end at Monastiraki square, that’s full of places to eat, shop etc. We'll discuss how the creators of democracy strove everyday to improve this political system and how we can copy some clever hacks they introduced. What's incredible is that we'll actually be standing and discussing at the exact same places the ancient Athenians were gathering to discuss and argue themselves! Based on my personal academic research, I'll point out hidden details you won't find in any tour books. Keep in mind this is NOT a long sightseeing walking tour, so if it's your first day in Athens, it's good to join another walking tour of the city, as a general introduction to Athens. My experience is actually a walking seminar that focuses mostly on delving a bit deeper into history, politics and the important lessons we can learn by discussing and sharing our ideas , opinions and facts!
Yes, we can. Follow me to where everything started. Greetings! I'm George, I was born in Athens and I've studied Ancient History/Archaeology both in Britain and in Greece. For more than a decade now, I've been organizing and leading tours. As a professional historian I've worked with universities and schools from all over the world. I specialize in the birth of democracy, how those ancient ideas were revived by the American Founding Fathers and the practical solutions that all modern republics can implement today.

We'll meet at Thissio which is very close to the Ancient Agora and the Flea Market and just a minute away from the metro station. Soon we'll be heading away from tourist areas, towards the hill of the Observatory and we'll end later at the busy square of Monastiraki, next to another metro station.
Certain parts of this walk require an easy hiking uphill and include a few steps too. So if you're using a wheelchair please contact me in advance so we can adjust the route to your convenience
