"Social distance", in style. Given corona concerns, I am currently limiting this experience to 4 guests. It’s a great double date. We will be sailing Lake Travis on my beloved Pearson 30, named Old School. She is a beautiful example of a classic sailboat and a joy to sail. After a safety briefing, we will spend 5 minutes motoring into the body of the lake and hoist the sails. While I'm happy to sail the boat, it's more fun if you get involved. Everyone will have opportunity to steer the boat and trim sails. I will show you how its done, coach you, and let you do as much of the sailing as you like. Or, you can just kick back and enjoy the ride. I'm happy to be an instructor, tour guide, talk boats, or simply enjoy the company. With some wind, it will be a great sailing experience with the boat leaning side to side and moving quick. If becalmed, we can fire up the engine and hunt the wind. Sailing teaches you to roll with the conditions and we will have a great time either way. As the time gets near, we will drop sails and motor into the marina, where you can enjoy the view or head to a nearby restaurant. Yes, you get to see posh homes, local landmarks and awesome scenery. You will probably learn something about sailing. But really, it's sailing with friends. Instagram: @oldschoolsailing. Check it out for more pics and videos.
I have sailed Lake Travis on my beloved Old School for over 15 years. My experience includes sailing 40' yachts in Croatia, British Virgin Islands and St. Martin. Most important, I’ve been hosting this experience since February 2019, love it, and have over 50 five-star reviews. I learned to sail on this boat and have done all the maintenance since I bought her. I appreciate that sailing can be intimidating but it doesn't need to be. Along the way, I will show you how to handle the boat, give insights on owning a classic sailboat, and we will have fun. This is a great opportunity to experience the joy of sailing, and you might just meet some cool people! I love hosting and spending time on the boat, with old friends as well as new friends. Don't be shy-come sailing. Follow Old School on Instagram: @oldschoolsailing.
I will bring ice, water, sparkling water & Diet Coke. As with any proper sailboat, there may be rum.
Boat & safety equipment, sunscreen, cooler, ice, and floating noodles.
Lake Travis is a jewel of Central Texas. It experiences wide fluctuations in water levels and thus has an interesting and variable landscape. You will have a special lake view of Mansfield Dam, an historic landmark, which was built to control flooding in Central Texas. We will pass Starnes Island, a favorite spot for the party boat scene. Old School offers great views of posh homes, awesome sunsets, and people out enjoying the lake.
最多可有4位年满10周岁的参与者参加。 If the wind is over 15 knots, you can expect the boat to tilt up to 30 degrees. This can be unpredictable if the wind is gusting. You should be able to handle that. Children are welcome if they can take directions. Texas law…
Beer and white wine are welcome. Please, no red as it can stain the boat when it spills. You can bring snacks or a picnic lunch- but if its windy, you probably won't eat them because you are having too much fun sailing.
We will sail unless we have a rare event where it is not safe or pouring rain. Plan to arrive a few minutes early. Message me if you have a group of 6.
