We'll see over a dozen points of interest & enjoy a fresh local beverage while on the tour of Romantic Zone -named after Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor's love affair, fostered here during the 1963 filming of The Night of the Iguana. We start at La Palapa beach restaurant, their fav breakfast place & beach hangout, & where the film's cast & crew boarded boats daily to shoot in Mismaloya. We'll head up Olas Altas to the celeb hangout spot & see Taylor's sidewalk Hollywood star, then up the popular Basilio Badillo St. before crossing over the river into Centro PV where we'll see an honorary statue of the film stars. Then we'll walk up the cobblestone streets to see Burton & Taylor's villas & the famous Lovers Arch. As we head back, we'll come down Gringo Gulch landmark steps onto the Cuale River Island to discover all the gems on this culturally rich island with an art center, restaurants, bars, local art & craft venders and John Houston's memorial statue. You're welcome stop for souvenir shopping before we cross one of the hanging bridges from the island back into Old Town. We'll get a chance to see the new Mosaic Park as we return to our starting point at La Palapa.
Hola! A Chicagoan, I've now lived in PV 10yrs. I love urban & art walks, & growing up in Ohio is what fostered my love for nature hikes. In PV, I love them all! Over the last decade, I've enjoyed everything from artsy city strolls & up high staircases to lookout points, to intermediate & advanced level jungle & river hikes. I went from 10-12 hr office days & a bad back to become a kindergarten teacher, Superhost & house/pet caretaker who loves sharing PV's naturally beautiful trails, historic & cultural background, & overall welcoming, creative vibes with new friends & visitors. My home & private room listings are in the Romantic Zone (steps away from where Night of the Iguana's cast & crew met early morning daily to board panga boats, heading south to Mismaloya for filming) & where we start the tour!
