We will pick you up with our personal car from an address of your choosing (in Plovdiv). We will leave for Rhodope mountain, the drive is about 55 minutes long. Along the road we will see lovely villages and forests. Once we arrive at the foothill of the Thracian sanctuary Belintash, we will hike for about 15 minutes along a forest path until we get to the rock formation that is Belintash where you will enjoy a breath-taking panoramic view of the mountain. Here the ancient Thracians have performed different rituals. We will explore the remains of the Thracian tribes and you will hear interesting facts about the ancient Bulgarian land. After that, we will walk down a secret path and after a 15-minute hike it will take us to some traditional Bulgarian houses where we will enjoy a glass of local wine (red or white) and we will get to try the traditional for that region meal - patatnik, as well as the famous Bulgarian salad - shopska salad. That will take about 50 minutes. On our way back, we hike back to our vehicle along a different beautiful path (that will take about 40 minutes). Then we leave back for Plovdiv.
We are Demi and Lyuboslav, born and raised in Plovdiv. We've taken many trips around Plovdiv, by ourself, as well as with foreign friends, exploring Bulgarian nature. One of our favourite locations is Rhodope Mountain where my grandmother used to live. I used to spend my summers there as a kid in her tiny but picturesque house in the seclusion of the Rhodope Mountain. We decided that our love for this magical place should be shared so we are inviting you along with us to dive in Bulgarian nature, local cousine and customs!
