Would you like to find out your name in the Korean Alphabet and design and make beautiful silver jewelry? The Hangul jewelry you made, the only one in the world, will be a special souvenir for your trip to Korea. As soon as you get off the airplane, you'll notice signboards written in the Korean alphabet, not in your native language. You'll really feel that your adventure in a new land has begun. Korean letters, Hangul, are formed from combinations of consonants and vowels and it is easy to write a foreign language . First, think about what words to make jewelry. Your name, the name of you loved one, or words you want to remember—it's all good. Depending on the arrangement of consonants and vowels, various designs are possible for Hangul. When the design is complete, each of the pieces are secured with silver soldering. Your jewelry is completed after soldering, sanding, and polishing. Silver jewelry, including pendants, earrings, pins and key chains, can be made. Please, visit Instagram @lettering_jewelry_lab to see what activities you will be doing in the workshop. Thank you~!!!
I'm a contemporary jewelry maker and I run my jewelry studio, lettering_jewelry_lab, in Seoul. I studied metalwork and jewelry at the graduate school of Kookmin University and I also studied jewelry making at NSCAD in Canada. Over the past decade, I've participated in numerous contemporary jewelry fairs and art jewelry exhibitions in London, Barcelona, Paris, Chicago, and New York. (instagram@jounghye_jewelry_studio) I like to meet and communicate with people abroad through jewelry works. I'd like to introduce the Korean alphabet Hangul jewelry to foreigners visiting Seoul.
Materials I'll provide the materials, including sterling silver, tools, aprons, masks, mini flames, key rings, and pins.
My studio—lettering_jewelry_lab—is close to Seoul City Hall Square, the center of cultural events where various concerts, performances, and events are held in abundance throughout the year. You will be able to enjoy various cultural events at City Hall Square after visiting my studio. There are also some popular Seoul tourist attractions nearby, such as Deoksu Palace, Gwanghwamun, and Gyeongbokgung Palace.
