What our guests say after the tour? "...I would highly recommend this tour, you really get a feel for not only Croatian food, but food and culture associated with the Zagreb region. I promise you you won't go hungry..." this was said by our dear guest Doris after she spent the morning with us on tour. So, on this tour, first, we introduce you to all our favorite farmers and ladies, from whom our families regularly buy local products. Join us in tasting and talking with cheese and sour-cream saleswoman and with the lady who's been making homemade cornbread for decades. Dear guest Alasdair wrote after the tour: "...An excellent experience, we felt really immersed in the daily life at the market and got the opportunity to try some great local produce. .." Anne wrote: "...The tour was done in a way where you get to learn and experience the food culture. Max’s stories were particularly interesting especially about the storks..." Don't worry, we don't eat storks :-) It is just an interesting story... Explore the distinct culinary traditions of different regions and sample specialties like truffles from Istria or honey from Dalmatia and learn how the turbulent history of Croatia has had an effect on local cuisine, in every small region differently. "....learned so much about the diversity of Croatian food, culture, history and more... and had the best breakfast in years..." (Sara)
Hi! My friends call me Max! And, which would be a better way to meet new friends and to have an incredible experience of Zagreb than hang around with a local guide, your future friend. Do you believe that farmer's markets are the best way for real insight into any city just as I believe in it? Yes?! Then, take this walk with me! I was born and raised in Zagreb. I won several awards for unforgettable guiding and storytelling. This year I'm nominated for Green Microphone Award (responsible tourism). I am co-hosting this experience with fellow analog enthusiasts and foodies: Iva and Vito Join us and let's have Zagreb's Breakfast together!
Organic breakfast, plus a lot of organic food samples on the local green market (fresh cottage cheese, sour cream, cornbread,…
coffee or local brandy (instead of brandy, it can be fresh orange juice)
Our guests on tour will have a chance to talk with some local farmers, visit local hidden part of the farmers market where you have a unique possibility (depending on day) to try home-made cornbread, to taste fresh cottage cheese and sour cream exactly as locals do (there is a special way to do that in Zagreb). We will walk and talk through the market stalls, taverns, and local restaurants meeting local people and experience Zagreb as locals.
